Double-Nut

Consider the double-nut:

Consider me!

The idea of a double-nut M&M sounds superb. Wouldn't it be twice as good, all else being equal?

But alas, reality intrudes. The double-nut, while not uncommon, is poorly treated by machinery designed to handle the average candy, not the exceptional one.

Help.

We find cracks, missed corners, and unsightly exposed nuts.

Visuals aside, the moisture isn't retained so well, and sometimes a grainy texture develops.

A cruel world shaped by capitalism, efficiency, and pandering to the norm has brought low this candy who should by rights be prized. Sometimes, we encounter one that seems to nearly fulfill this potential:

Eat me?

But because the concept is so promising, while at the same time we see the unfortunate reality, we are reminded of what could have been, and are saddened.

Then we eat them anyway, because they're still pretty good.
